United we move forward
I'd like to think that I hit the ground running. When our plane landed in Vancouver on the way home from Convention, my phone started vibrating. Some of you must have cheerfully felt that the plane ride had given me enough time to adjust to becoming NVP and composed emails to me while in the air. :-) I took your lead and the phone calls began that night.
I spent two days working out of our RUO office on West Pender. Meeting with our staff to talk about the President's Conference and Convention, settling into the NVP office, and consulting about some common goals as we move forward. More emails and phone calls came in. And then the Director's started writing.
Management meetings are starting soon. In the meantime I'm organizing site visits in Vancouver, Victoria and Nanaimo. I also had an opportunity to organize a rally for the PSAC a few days after returning - just a gentle reminder to the employer that our members will not be rolling over on sick leave.
Together, we're stronger. Our departments will be united as we enter into a new era of leadership, not just regionally, but nationally within CEIU. Together we will face the attacks on us by Treasury Board and the Harper government. It's all hands on deck. But we'll be ready soon, to start playing offense. And away we go..
